The new certification ensures that the protection absorbs shocks and impacts simulated in a laboratory to equal those that would occur in a real life situation. In order to meet this standard, the back protector is subject to a series of strict tests: 1) The standards provides security as a fundamental element of the minimum size of the protection zone. Dimensions and position of the guards must be stated on the label and separate information note included, provided by the manufacturer. 2) An anatomical test verifies that it protects several parts more likely to be subjectes to serious injuries such as spine and shoulder blades. 3 ) The protection is conditioned for 72 hours at both room temperature and at 50°C to simulate the aging process of protections. To guarantee the protection capabilities of the product, guards must be tested for impact, put through various simulations to test its ability when impacted with sharp or blunt objects. 4) Chemical tests are carried out on the products, to ensure complete harmlessness of the materials on the person. 5) A special pictogram showing the certification must be clearly visible on the product packaging. LE PROTEZIONI ACERBIS SONO TUTTE OMOLOGATE E QUINDI PROGETTATE PER SUPERARE L'OMOLOGAZIONE SOGGETTA ALLA NORMATIVA EN 1621 La nuova certificazione garantisce che le protezioni assorbano gli urti, simulando in laboratorio impatti uguali a quelli che si avrebbero ad esempio contro i marciapiedi. Per poter superare questa norma il paraschiena è soggetto ad una serie di test più severi e impegnativi rispetto al passato: 1) La norma fornisce come elemento fondamentale di sicurezza le dimensioni della zona di protezione. Dimensioni e posizione delle protezioni devono essere incluse nelle informazioni fornite dal fabbricante tramite etichetta sulla protezione ed una nota informativa allegata alla protezione. 2) Viene fatto un test anatomico per verificare che la protezione ripari effettivamente le parti più soggette a lesioni gravi, come spina dorsale e scapole. 3) La protezione viene anche condizionata per 72 ore sia a temperatura ambiente che a 50°C, per simulare l'invecchiamento delle protezioni. Quindi a garanzia della capacità di protezione del prodotto, le protezioni devono essere sottoposte a prove di impatto, eseguite in modo da replicare i pericoli derivanti dall'urto con bordi taglienti, come per esempio i cordoli di marciapiede. 4) Test chimici vengono effettuati sui prodotti, per garantire la completa innocuità dei materiali della protezione, sulla persona. 5) Sia sul prodotto che nell'imballaggio deve essere, ben visibile, un apposito pittogramma che dimostra l'omologazione della protezione.
